London Gatwick Airport has recently opened a major addition to the North Terminal.
At a cost of GBP 73m the new extension is part of the GBP 1 billion renovation currently
underway. Included in the extended building are 2 new check-in islands which British
Airways and Emirates airlines will share. The new concourse provides a combination
of conventional check-in and fast bag drops as well as ticket counters. Gate Technologies
have supplied the counters totalling 55 operator positions which went fully operational
in November. GTL worked closely with Gatwick Airport Ltd to come up with a modern design
which is clean and simple in appearance, accommodates airline equipment efficiently and
contributes to the visual success of the terminal.
The counters were designed, prototyped, manufactured and installed in 16 weeks. Materials
used in the desk construction include stainless steel for sides, plinth and bumper, a
contemporary wood grained front panel is topped with a solid granite top.
ADAC has recently completed the refurbishment of Abu Dhabi Terminal 1 for which Gate Technologies Ltd provided over 80 counters for check-in, transfer, excess bag payment and currency exchange. In addition 17 double passport booths were installed including 2 for the sole use of veiled women. All items of furniture were custom designed to suit ADAC’s unique requirements and high standards of quality and performance.
